My Business Journey

My journey in business started 36 years ago, working for others in roles ranging from sales to management and director positions. During this time, I excelled in sales, training, marketing, team development, business restructures, and growth. However, I became frustrated with my work-life balance and financial remuneration being controlled by others.

Three years later, I formed my own Ltd company, experiencing newfound freedom and achieving a £1.5 million turnover in the first 16 months. Despite initial success, I faced challenges, including the severe recession of the 1980s. There were many times during the early years of my business when, after paying everyone else, there was little left for me.

Turning Challenges into Success

Learning on the job, sometimes through painful mistakes, I eventually engaged a business coach. This decision revolutionized our business strategies. In under six months, the business and profits grew substantially. Over the following 20 years, applying what I had learned provided me with the quality of life and income I had dreamed of. Within 12 months, I found time for family, personal pursuits, and holidays, supported by a capable team running the business without my constant presence.

Expanding Horizons

I later stepped aside to pursue new interests, establishing other businesses and a charity. In 2015, I was headhunted to oversee a local company’s restructure and growth, resulting in a 75% (£2 million) turnover increase in four years, along with increased profit margins. Part of my role was developing and training a team to ensure sustained success.

Sharing Knowledge and Experience

For the past 12 years, I’ve shared business strategies with trades and startups, transforming their operations and profitability. Now, I devote myself to coaching and mentoring others who seek better work-life balance, financial freedom, and the life they deserve.
